Source code of Norton Antivirus 2006 released by Anonymous

Hacker group Anonymous has released the source code of what it claims Symantec’s Norton Antivirus 2006. The code was allegedly stolen along with the source of other Symantec products, by a hacker group called Lords of Dharmaraja which claims it had stolen it from Indian military servers but some say it could have been leaked way back in 2006. Symantec says Yama tough of Lords of Dharmaraja tried a failed attempt to extort $50,000 in exchange for destroying the code back in February and the alleged code for Symantec’s pcAnywhere software was released on The Pirate Bay soon thereafter. Now Antisec, and Anonymous affliate has released a 1.07GB file on the Piratebay titled “Sumantec Norton Antivirus 2006 All Platform Source code” . Symantec says it is investigating the authenticity of the code released by Anonymous. This code which is the payload seems to have been coded using unknown programming language According to kaspersky, which is analysing the malware Duqu also known as Stuxnet 2.0 by some the payload DLL, which communicates with the Command and Control (C&C) server seems to have been written using some  coding language never seen before.                                                                     Some parts of it, including those for downloading and executing additional modules were written in standard c++ but a big chunk of it was not. This particular section contains no references to any standard or user written c++ functions, and may have been created by different programming team. Aura Design a startup has launched a set of tablets aimed at hackers and coders.  What makes this tablet different from others in the market is that Auraslate comes  with source code and hardware drivers of the tablets, so that the hackers can get on to their work right away and need wait for the manufacturers to open up the source code. Auraslate comes with 7″ and 10″ version with price range from $139 to $270 respectively. These tablets have an ARM Cortex A9 CPU, 4B storage and Gorilla Glass coated capacitive touchscreen. Headquarters ofSymantec located in Cupertino, CA A group named “The Lords of Dharmaraja” claims to have stolen Symantec(Makers of Norton Antivirus and other computer security products) source code and documentation from the servers of Indian Intelligence Agencies, along with intellectual property from other software companies that have contracts with Indian government. A user named YAMATEAM have posted a document dating back to 1999 in Pastebin, which have been deleted eventually. But a google cache version of it is still available for access and you can check it out using the links below. The document reads, “As of now we start sharing with all our brothers and followers information from the Indian Military Intelligence servers,” the group said in a Pastebin post on Wednesday.
