Ubuntu for Android is the next big thing from Canonical

Well before the hype surrounding the Ubuntu TV has ended, Canonical has announced the next big thing in the series of Ubuntu on devices – it is Ubuntu for Android. It is ubuntu desktop running side by side on a Android phone with a shared kernel. It would be a normal Android phone but when connected to a dock with monitor  and keyboard  the underlying Ubuntu desktop kicks in and would provide the Ubuntu desktop experience. Apart from the advantages in mobility in carrying a single device which can perform the actions of both smartphone and a laptop, the main advantage would be in Data consolidation. You can synchronize the address book, documents, media and others. When you connect this device to a TV via HDMI the Ubuntu TV application kicks in and lets you manage your media content and view them on your television and also access online contents. An Android Tablet for Hackers – Auraslate

Aura Design a startup has launched a set of tablets aimed at hackers and coders.  What makes this tablet different from others in the market is that Auraslate comes  with source code and hardware drivers of the tablets, so that the hackers can get on to their work right away and need wait for the manufacturers to open up the source code. Auraslate comes with 7″ and 10″ version with price range from $139 to $270 respectively. These tablets have an ARM Cortex A9 CPU, 4B storage and Gorilla Glass coated capacitive touchscreen. The 10″ version called Lifepad 1026 is said to run with Android 4.0 OS. iBerry India, a chennai based low cost Android tablets manufacturer in the country as announced it will launch its first Google’s latest increment in the Android operating system family Ice cream sandwich based tablet-pc. It said it would launch the tablet in march and called it iBerry Auxus A02 and it would be available in the retail for the price tag of Rs.10,000. iBerry has already two android tablets in the market a 7″ BT07 and a 10″ BT10 which were launched last year during september. Engadget has come with leaked specs of the new Barnes&Noble’s Nook Tablet a successor to its Nook Color ebook reader.
