Samsung to bring their own Facebook competitor, code named Samsung Facebook !!

Samsung to bring their own Facebook competitor, code named Samsung Facebook !!

If  the report from The Korea Times is true, then it means samsung doesn’t ponder much on the code names of their projects. The report states a Samsung Official has revealed the company’s hopes to launch its social networking service to compete with Facebook. The report further says that the internal name this project in Samsung is ‘Samsung Facebook’ !! Samsung’s social network is believed to built on top of Amazon’s cloud computing platform and a company official confirmed to The Kore Times that the new service “will become available in the first quarter of next year at the earliest,” adding that the goal is to expand Samsung’s “social media service across different devices from different companies across different mobile platforms.” source : The...

Multi-Core Processor for Android is waste, says Intel !!

Multi-Core Processor for Android is waste, says Intel !!

Pic : Lava’s XOLO 900 powered by intel’s Medfield SOC Chip giant Intel made a statement lately which could send shock waves in tech world of SOC’s, Smartphones and their Operating System’s. Mike Bell, GM, Intel’s Mobile and Communications Group in justifying for their late entry into smartphone SOC’s with a single-core ‘Medifield’ Atom processor while other players like Nvidia, Samsung, Qualcomm, TI have dual-core and quad-core chips said,  “The way it’s implemented right now, Android does not make as effective use of multiple cores as it could, and I think – frankly -some of this work could be done by the vendors who create the SoCs, but they just haven’t bothered to do it.” Intel’s internal testing states that using the second core on a dual-core chip from any other manufacturer actually results in decreased performance versus using a single core. Multi-core implementations were found slower than single-core implementations. “If you take a look a lot of handsets on the market, when you turn on the second core...

Canadian version of Samsung Galaxy S3 to have S4 CPU and 2GB RAM

Canadian version of Samsung Galaxy S3 to have S4 CPU and 2GB RAM

Latest Android Super Phone Galaxy S3 It seems Samsung has decided to change the hardware for it’s canadian version of  Galaxy S3 to provide LTE. Samsung today announced version of Galaxy S3 one with LTE and other DC-HSPA +42Mbps, both powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 SOC at 1.5 GHz as seen on HTC One X(AT&T) and One S. Samsung has added in 2GB RAM for these phones unlike the international version of S3 which has 1 GB RAM.I am not sure whether this has been done due to technical implications of changed SOC or to differentiate it’s hardware from HTC One X and HTC one S which are already available in these markets. See the Galaxy SIII variants chart provided by Anand Tech...

Android Jelly Bean is just an update to ICS, will power Google Nexus 7 Tablet

Android Jelly Bean is just an update to ICS, will power Google Nexus 7 Tablet

Looks like Jelly Bean the next installment of android would be an update to existing Ice cream sandwich  and not a major upgrade. Judging from the version number 4.1, Google seem to have made few changes to ICS 4.0 and releasing jelly bean 4.1 along with the much anticipated Google 7 nexus tablet. The $199 tablet would see the entry of Google into Tablet market with its own nexus brand of Android devices. It is said that the tablet would be made by ASUS and would feature 1280×768 resolution on  a 7″ screen powered by NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 Processor. So with Tegra 3 SOC we would not expect LTE with this tablet, but with $199 we can say the Tablet would not be Top end of the Android tablet world which is a bit unusual as the nexus brand has created a niche in the top end Android smartphone market. Though Nexus 7 would not be competing with Apple iPad it may be on the lines with Amazon...

iPhone 5 back panel photos leaked, has tell tale signs of changes for next gen iPhone

Apple fan site 9to5Mac has posted pictures of what it looks like back panels and frames of the next generation iPhone. 9to5Mac has obtained this pictures from iFixyouri  apple products repair site and its trusted chain of suppliers network from china. The first set of pictures show two back panels in black and white. As rumored apple has gone for a small dock connector port giving more space for speaker suggesting an improved speaker and audio quality in the next iPhone. More visible change from the metallic back panel is the placement of the audio jack which is now placed at the bottom corner and the second microphone slot near the camera.  There is also an unknown slot near the camera which could be for the second microphone. Apple has included second microphone from its iPhone 4 and 4S models for more audio quality during video  recording. From the panel size it looks like the new iPhone would have a taller screen with same width as previous models. The larger screen size...
