Canadian version of Samsung Galaxy S3 to have S4 CPU and 2GB RAM

Canadian version of Samsung Galaxy S3 to have S4 CPU and 2GB RAM

Latest Android Super Phone Galaxy S3 It seems Samsung has decided to change the hardware for it’s canadian version of  Galaxy S3 to provide LTE. Samsung today announced version of Galaxy S3 one with LTE and other DC-HSPA +42Mbps, both powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 SOC at 1.5 GHz as seen on HTC One X(AT&T) and One S. Samsung has added in 2GB RAM for these phones unlike the international version of S3 which has 1 GB RAM.I am not sure whether this has been done due to technical implications of changed SOC or to differentiate it’s hardware from HTC One X and HTC one S which are already available in these markets. See the Galaxy SIII variants chart provided by Anand Tech...

Android Jelly Bean is just an update to ICS, will power Google Nexus 7 Tablet

Android Jelly Bean is just an update to ICS, will power Google Nexus 7 Tablet

Looks like Jelly Bean the next installment of android would be an update to existing Ice cream sandwich  and not a major upgrade. Judging from the version number 4.1, Google seem to have made few changes to ICS 4.0 and releasing jelly bean 4.1 along with the much anticipated Google 7 nexus tablet. The $199 tablet would see the entry of Google into Tablet market with its own nexus brand of Android devices. It is said that the tablet would be made by ASUS and would feature 1280×768 resolution on  a 7″ screen powered by NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 Processor. So with Tegra 3 SOC we would not expect LTE with this tablet, but with $199 we can say the Tablet would not be Top end of the Android tablet world which is a bit unusual as the nexus brand has created a niche in the top end Android smartphone market. Though Nexus 7 would not be competing with Apple iPad it may be on the lines with Amazon...

Run Android apps on your Linux with kernel 3.3

Run Android apps on your Linux with kernel 3.3

Linus Torvalds announced the sevent release candidate (RC7) for Version 3.3 of the Linux kernel. The opensource project maintained by Linux Torvalds the founder of Linux Operating System which develops kernel for it has been used in thousands of projects world wide including Android. Android has been using separate kernel unlike its desktop counterpart though there are plenty of similarities between the both, this thin line between them has now been erased thanks to the version 3.3 kernel in which the Android has been baked into the kernel. This move helps developers to make cross-platform applications. SlashGear said in a report, “Although Android and mainline Linux have always shared plenty of code, the underlying kernels have been separate; this new release means manufacturers will be able to simply throw their hardware-specific drivers into a Linux-based gadget and have a functional Android device,”  Linux 3.3 release notes states, “For a long time, code from the Android project has not been merged back to the Linux repositories due to disagreement between...
