India’s Akash interceptor missile test fired successfully

India’s indigenous surface to air missile (SAM) Akash was successfully test fired from the integrated Test Rage at chandipur, about 15km from Balasore. The missile has a strike range of 25km with a warhead of 60kgs, was test fired from a mobile launcher from launch comples-III of the ITR at about 1108 hours. Defence sources said, “During the trial, the missile was aimed at intercepting a floating object supported by a pilotless target aircraft, flown from launch complex-II, at a definite altitude over the sea”. Akash, an anti-aircraft defence system, can simultaneously engage several targets with Rajendra radar developed by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment(LRDE), a Defence Research Development Organisation(DRDO) lab in Bangalore. Rajendra is a ‘passive phased arra radar’. It is a multifunction radar, capable of tracking as many as 64 targets and controlling up to 12 missiles simultaneously. Al Qaeda training doctors to plant explosives inside female breasts,says MI6

MI6, UK’s external intelligence agency have sais that doctors are being trained by Al Qaeda to plant explosives inside the breasts of female suicide bombers. The chiefs believe that terrorists can escape airport security and blow off airlines with hidden non-explosives planted inside breasts or in the abdomen of  male terrorists. Daily Mirrors said, the scanners are then not able to detect the bombs which are detonated by injection. A doctor who was working with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula(AQAP) with bomb maker Ibrahim al-Asiri was killed by CIA drone strike earlier this year. Pakistan’s ISI gets new Director

Prime minister of Pakistan has appointed a new chief for the infamous intelligence agency-Inter Service Intelligence. Lt. Gen. Zahir ul-Islam   Pic:Reuters Lt. Gen. Zahir ul-Islam  will take over as the director general of the ISI on March 18 replacing Lt.Gen.Ahmed Shuja Pasha who held the post since 2008, said the spokesman for  Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. A succession of spy scandals sen the ISI’s relationship with US intelligence agency the Central Intelligence Agency and more importantly United States to all time low in 2011 after the CIA contractor shot and killed two pakistanis in Lahore and it worsened in May after the daring raid by American special forces in Abbottabad, 35 miles north of the ISI’s HQ which killed Osama bin Laden. Indian Government to set centres to monitor Internet

A high level meeting was organized at the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), India where plans regarding setting up a National Cyber Coordination Center (NCCC) were discussed. The centre will be responsible for assessing cyber security threat on a real time basis and will also be responsible for monitoring Internet traffic. The meeting was attended by officials frosm IB, RAW, DRDO, Home Ministry and Army. The minutes of the meeting read,  “Establishment of a multi-agency NCCC for real time assessment of cyber security threat in the country and generation of an actionable report or alerts for proactive actions…,” It was also revealed at the meeting that, “The NCCC would scan traffic within the country, flowing at the point of entry and exit, including international gateway.” It was also said that the centre would be in virtual contact with the control room of the Interent service providers. BRAHMOS missiles displayed during Republic day Indian Army inducted second unit of BrahMos missile system in the western sector to provide a swift strike capability along with Pakistan. The Army conducted a test of the 290-km range missile to validate the unit’s operationalisation. Army spokesperson on a press release in New Delhi said,“In conformity and pursuit of operational and strategic surface to surface missile capability development, the second BrahMos unit of Indian Army has been operationalised somewhere in western sector,” “The Indian Army unit successfully launched BrahMos missile and destroyed the preselected target in the field firing ranges in Rajasthan on Sunday,” The BrahMos missile is a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Mashinotroyenia  (NPOM) of Russia under BrahMos Aerospace, it can reach a speed of Mach 2.8 (approx. three times the speed of sound) flying as low as 10 meters above ground to avoid radar detection to hit surface targets. source : IBN live       ...

Breaking : Bug in Defense minister- Ak Antony’s office, probe ordered

Defense minister of India- AK Antony Hand held detectors of Military Intelligence officials detected a presence of monitoring devices in defense minister Ak Antony’s office in Feb 16. Defense Secretary Shashikant Sharma took up the matter with Intelligence Bureau(IB). After the detection of the bug the MI personnel were immediately asked to leave by Defence Ministry security. The Home Ministry was alerted while the IB was called in. High level probe has been ordered. There are many suspects in this regard, considering alleged mistrust between Army and the Ministry. Though Army cannot tap phones it is said to have passive cellular surveillance . It is worth to note here that, In June 2011 Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s office was also bugged. Mukherjee had spoken about discovery of at least 16 identical adhesive like gum sticks from key rooms of the Finance Ministry .
