intel announces death for windows, all set to bring Android powered computers
Leading chipset maker intel has announced that it will quit working on windows 8 powered platforms and would concentrate on integrating convertible notebooks that run Android platform.
According to those quoted in the Digitimes report, Intel will be working with its partners to introduce Android -powered hybrid convertible notebooks in the market and it seems manufacturers like lenovo have already shown keen interest in offering such products.
Reports from IDC show that global PC Shipment has sunken to worst levels and poor sales of windows 8 operating system from Microsoft acted as an catalyst. The decline in PC sales has affected Intel dearly, seen from it’s Q1 profit results dropped by 25% and it might have lead the chip maker to take a radical decision to ditch Windows and move towards adapting leading mobile platform – Android for portable computers.
intel is not new for changing PC market to boost it’s chip sales. When Apple released it’s ‘Mac Book Air’ series of ultaporable notebook computers, intel soon brought in it’s own ‘Ultrabook’ series of portable computers to take on Apple’s line. Almost all leading PC manufacturers like HP, Dell, Acer have have partnered with intel and now have ultrabook notebook computers in their stable.
Taking on Windows which is an evolved PC format operating system with new built for mobile operating system – Android would be quite difficult, but intel with the support of the manufacturers could pull off the rabbit out the hat yet another time !
