Breaking : No more roaming charges in India, Cabinet approves new telecom policy
|Those who travel frequently would be hugely benefitted
by NTP 2012 plans
The cabinet today approved the new telecom policy that proposes to abolish roaming charges on mobile phones and allow users to retain same number across the country.
National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2012, was approved by the cabinet in a meeting conducted today.
The NTP 2012 aims to provide free roaming to telecom users and allow them to retain the mobile number even outside their circles without having to pay any extra charge.
Currently users had to pay extra charge when they receive or make call in a circle outside their home network called roaming charges which are usually higher than the call charges inside home network.
Mobile portability was also not permitted outside home network, which is not changed by NTP 2012.
