Pakistan tests nuclear capable Hatf-IX short range missile

Pakistan today announced that it successfully tested its short range nuclear capable missile
Hatf-IX/NASR. The missile has a range of 60km, aimed at “deterring evolving threats at shorter range”.

The military claimed the indigenously developed short range  surface-to-surface multi-tube missile Hatf-IX or NASR was successful.

A military statement said the missile can carry
“nuclear warheads of appropriate yield with accuracy and possesses shoot and scoot attributes” .

Analysts have said the short-range missile was primarily aimed at deterring India’s cold start military doctrine . It is to be noted that India has been  carrying a series of tests on its short range Surface to Air interceptor missile Akash  in may.
