Pepsi, Coke found to be mildly carcinogenic.

Pepsi and Coke are found to be mildly carcinogenic
A new study reveals a fact that soft beverage giants Coca-cola and Pepsi contains a very high level of a cancer causing material – caramel ( used mainly for the color that coke and Pepsi has).

Caramel is prepared by heating any kind of sugar to a certain level. A study conducted on the lab animals was found to be causing cancer. Approximate projection states that,

Risk of cancer could rise to 13 cancers per 100,000 if only people consuming soft drinks containing caramel colouring were considered

A normal 12 ounce can of Pepsi or Coke is found to contain 138 microgram of 4-MI (4-MethylLimidazole) which is way higher than the acceptable limit of 29 microgram as per California’s standards.

Effects of the study:

United States: All the suspected products have been asked to reduce the level of caramel or else sell the product with a cancer warning.

Europe: There is not going to be a change in the levels of caramel.

Asia: It’s still unclear whether the levels will be changed.
