BrahMos missile unit inducted by Indian Army near Pak border

Indian Army inducted second unit of BrahMos missile system in the western sector to provide a swift strike capability along with Pakistan. The Army conducted a test of the 290-km range missile to validate the unit’s operationalisation.
Army spokesperson on a press release in New Delhi said,
“In conformity and pursuit of operational and strategic surface to surface missile capability development, the second BrahMos unit of Indian Army has been operationalised somewhere in western sector,”
“The Indian Army unit successfully launched BrahMos missile and destroyed the preselected target in the field firing ranges in Rajasthan on Sunday,”
The BrahMos missile is a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Mashinotroyenia (NPOM) of Russia under BrahMos Aerospace, it can reach a speed of Mach 2.8 (approx. three times the speed of sound) flying as low as 10 meters above ground to avoid radar detection to hit surface targets.
