Ubuntu for Android is the next big thing from Canonical

Well before the hype surrounding the Ubuntu TV has ended, Canonical has announced the next big thing in the series of Ubuntu on devices – it is Ubuntu for Android.

It is ubuntu desktop running side by side on a Android phone with a shared kernel. It would be a normal Android phone but when connected to a dock with monitor  and keyboard  the underlying Ubuntu desktop kicks in and would provide the Ubuntu desktop experience.

Apart from the advantages in mobility in carrying a single device which can perform the actions of both smartphone and a laptop, the main advantage would be in Data consolidation. You can synchronize the address book, documents, media and others. When you connect this device to a TV via HDMI the Ubuntu TV application kicks in and lets you manage your media content and view them on your television and also access online contents.

When connect to a dock in Ubuntu mode, you can still access all contents from your smartphone like accessing messages, attend calls through notifications.
