Supreme court of India orders Ubuntu10.04 installation on all courts in India
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 was previously being used in 17,000 courts of India for the last four years. A circular titled ‘Guidelines for Roll-out and Installation of Ubuntu Linux for Indian Judiciary’ has been released by the e-committee of the Supreme court of India.
Free SMS Channel for Ubuntu-Linux tips
A free SMS Channel has also been created to increase the awareness about the features and functionalities of Ubuntu Linux OS amongst the judicial officers, technical staff and the members of the court staff. A circular released in this regard says that it is a free Google SMS channel called Ubuntu-Linux. The objective is to send free regular SMS of Ubuntu-Linux tips, tricks and information.
The circular says, “This channel can be subscribed by sending the first subscription SMS to Google mobile no. 9870807070. The delivery of regular SMS to the subscriber’s mobile no. is absolutely free. To subscribe to the Ubuntu-Linux SMS channel, following SMS (in small or capital letters) is required to be sent to 9870807070: ‘ON
This channel can also be subscribed through the Internet.
